ESRA has been recognised for its dedication to staff wellbeing, receiving the Commitment Award in 2023 and the Bronze Award in 2024 through the East Sussex Wellbeing at Work Accreditation Programme.
At ESRA, our staff team is trained in Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP), which guides the way we work with our clients. TIP helps us understand how trauma can affect individuals, their communities, and their ability to feel safe and form trusting relationships. We know that trauma can make it hard for people to feel secure, whether in relationships or within themselves, and that the effects can last long after the traumatic event. While we may not always understand why someone behaves in a certain way, we recognise that responses to trauma, including addiction, are often linked to very distressing experiences.
Our Team:
CEO: Jacqui – I’m Jacqui and I am the CEO at ESRA and have been part of the project for eight years. My role includes overseeing the project, providing support to the staff team, and planning strategically for the future. I have 25 years of experience managing community initiatives and working with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Senior Support Worker: Ally – Hello, my name is Ally and I am the first point of contact for all new clients.
Community Engagement and Group Coordinator: Jo – Hi, I’m Jo and together with Ally I run the SMART recovery programme, supporting people on their journey to overcome substance misuse. My role in the community is to work with other organisations to help people seeking support, and promote a variety of activities and courses to encourage personal growth, build connections, and help individuals regain confidence to continue their recovery journey.
Community Engagement Worker: Stacy – I’m Stacy and I work at East Sussex Recovery Alliance as a Community Engagement worker. I have personal experience with substance misuse. In my job, I handle all the administrative tasks. I will also be at our drop-in group if you need any support or guidance, and I can direct you to other services. Additionally, I go into the community and collaborate with other organisations to help people seek support for substance misuse.
